Special Commissions – Various Locations

• West Coast Estate - Manufacture of traditional oak building using mortice and tenon joints, wind braces and oak pegs then clad in larch. We also built a 3-use garden hut/ log store/ bin shelter elsewhere on the estate

• Lancaster Crescent - restoration and cill replacement on Victorian sash and case windows within a conservation area.

• Ayrshire House – Manufacture of bespoke kitchen and boot room for large family home.

• Church Ruin, Lamlash, Arran – Soft topping to ruined churches masonry walls, to conserve them and mitigate further degradation by stopping water penetration. 

• North Ayrshire Castle - Stone carving of a lion to replace one smashed by falling masonry in a storm, along with staircase repairs.

• Fireproofing – fire proofing of Doors at MacKintosh designed Hillhouse, Helensburgh and plaster fire proofing fireplaces at Cloak House, Kilmacolm.

• Bespoke Joinery – As can be seen throughout our projects we have the capability to manufacture bespoke joinery peace’s wither its furniture, doors, windows, panels or staircases.

• Limeworks – as most of our traditional projects use hydraulic lime binders we also have the capabilities in house to carry out traditional lime pointing, screeding, plastering and harling works.

• Shop Front Restorations- We have recently undertaken the task of restoring a number of shopfronts back to their original state on Millport as part of the town centre regeneration scheme. 

 

Revesby- Reconfiguration of attic space:

• Installation of 5 new skylights and 2 solar tubes to bring natural light in.

• Reinsulating of roof space to improve energy efficacy and re plasterboard.

• Moving of stair case and installation of new oak stair.

• Formation of 2 new bathrooms with bespoke storage units to fit under cams.

• Installation of 2 sets of bespoke fitted wardrobes to fit under cams.

• Installation of new hardwood flooring in entranceway.

• Formation of cinema room.

• New quarter opening composite front door.

 

Earlston Castle – Conservation & Remediation

• Catalogue and store original wall panelling for future use

• Construct Engineered rafter feet repairs for roof trusses where to decayed to save

• Add new roof structures where required

• Preserve and treat all original timber were necessary

• Splice original timbers at ends and add in metal plates with new timber.

• Create new first floor oak structure.

• Create gable ladders with tiepins to masonry to support rubble walls from new oak floor.

• Create bespoke original oak door with diamond rivets and make building wind and water tight.

 

Church Works

• St Andrews, Ayr – Manufacture new Louvres for bell tower

• Dunlop Parish Church – Lift and Refit floor through main church in order to incorporate under floor heating, restore louvers.

• Anstruther Easter Church – Reproduce new louvres to match originals.

• Port of Menteith Church – Replacement of Louvres, structural floor and wall plate. and rafter feet of church tower, construction of metal stud walls around trefoil and circular stain glass windows.

• Broomhill Church – Carful removal of internal doorway, and panelling to allow new glass electric sliding door to be installed.

• St Brides Episcopal Church, Hyndland – Repoint external walls in lime mortar to stop moisture ingress, clean off salts from stone work in organ chamber, render walls inside tower and manufacture bespoke oak door for tower.

• Trinity Church, Irvine, - Manufacture new external doors out of Douglas Fir, create new roof and infill panels to form new front entrance hall, install new fencing around church, repair louvers, install new first floor gallery, install support plates for timber roof rafters.  

 

Gleniffer – New Extension

• Demolition of existing extension/carport

• Preparation of foundations

• Construction of new timber kit and external blockwork with stone quoins and cills, mullions, and lintels around door and window openings.

• Installation of new roof on existing house where it meets new extension roof.  

• Installation of new skylights, trifold door and windows.

• Formation of new stair and cupboards.

• Constitution of new bathroom.

• Installation of new kitchen and flooring.

 

National Trust for Scotland – throughout the year we carried out minor repairs and upgrades, including

 

Greenbank Gardens – Reconstruction of Apple store,

Repair of front steps balustrade, minor maintenance works.

• Wester Kittochside Farm – Replacement of high-level barn louvres, reproduction of farmhouse door to match existing, repairs to farm house balustrade.

• Tenement House - Repointing front walls and new entrance step repairs and replacement; replacing 3 Sash Windows to back of building.

• Greek Thompson, Holmwood House, minor maintenance works.

• House of the Bins – Manufacture and installation of bespoke sash and shutter windows for out building, manufacture and installation of bridge over Errick Burn.

• The Pineapple – Reconstruction of toilet block in the grounds of the The Pineapple, Airth.

• Arduaine Gardens – Repairs to visitor centre.

• Geilston Garden – Fabric repairs to house chimneys  

• Brodick Castle – Dismantling and moving of Victorian Cabinets.

• Pollock House – Fine plaster repairs to damaged internal walls.
